Rheotron

The Rheotron was a weapon that was developed by Max Steenbeck, at Siemens-Schuckert in the 1930’s. It was based on a particle accelerator and was also duplicated by America thanks to Donald Kerst at the University of Illinois in 1940.  However, what the SS managed to do was shrink down the size of a particle accelerator to a size where it could easily be mounted as a weapon. Utilizing electromagnetism to direct high amounts of energy, the Rheotron was able to melt aluminum in a matter of seconds.

A prototypical version energy weapons was captured by Patton’s Third Army at Burggrub in western Bavaria on April 14, 1945. However, none of the vehicle mounted versions were ever captured.

A prisoner captured at Dresden Plasma Physics Laboratory, named Dr Rolf Widerøe. Dr. Widerøe was one of the scientists who built and tested the Rheotron system, multiple times, and under investigation stated that he drafted plans for the SS to use, in a vehicle.
