Us as Earthlings have built many different types of telescopes to look up to the skies with. Some of them listen to other parts of the light spectrum, including radio waves. We do this to look for alien life.
But have you ever wondered if an alien was listening to earth, through their own radio telescope, what would be the first thing they would hear?
It would obviously need to be a signal strong enough to break the ionosphere. This would give that title to the 1936 Berlin Olympics, when radios signals that were that strong were used.
The Olympics hosted by the Nazis is literally the starting off point for anyone in space listening in. Everything else broadcast after that is part of earth history as well, as listen to from outer space.
