Italian UFO

Another one of these incidents occurred many years later in Italy August 17, 1926, just 4 years after Benito Mussolini came to power. That morning, over Venice, a cylindrical shaped UFO, and two spherical shaped craft, were observed by people on the ground. The objects were silver and very reflective, measuring about ten to 12 meters in length. One was the spherical object that was reported to look like Saturn. The Italian air force tried to pursue them, but their interwar era plane could exceed 130km/h, and the three UFO easily out maneuver the primitive Italian air force. A report was put together for Mussolini.

Then, after approximately at least an hour and after passing over Mestre, it was seen as a sort of metallic tube, gray or slate. It was described like a kind of aerial torpedo, with very clear windows … and alternating, white and red lights. Following were two disc “hats;” two hats like those used by priests: wide, round, with a dome in the center, metallic and following the torpedo without changing their relative positions.

Originally the Italians view the unidentified flying objects as potential threats, from either the British or another nation. It was believed that with superior technology, Italy would become vulnerable. Because of the perceived threat, Mussolini set up Cabinet RS/33, whose responsibility was to study flying saucers.

This secret cabinet had many weird experiments and theories. The most out reaching thins RS/33 was going to attempt to contact Martian via radio. This project was led by Italian physicist Guglielmo Marconi, after it was concluded that the disk that had crashed was originally from another world, instead of from a western nation like Italian government originally thought. Marconi was known for his belief in extraterrestrials, including Martians. Marconi would regularly work with astronomer Gino Cecchinin from Turin, trying to build a radio powerful enough to reach Mars. The Italian government also published that they found way of telepathic communication of communicating with Martians, but this is most likely fascist propaganda.

Mussolini was supportive of this venture, since he thought aliens from another world being a credible threat to humanity.

Mussolini made sure to RS/33 was staffed with the most respected minds of Italian academics, these included member of both the scientific and engineering communities. Dr. Ruggero Costanti Cavazzani, Professor Severi, Professor Bottazzi, Professor Giodani, and Professor Crocco are just some of the names that Mussolini gathered to study the UFO phenomenon.

What the fascist learned from this cabinet’s study still remains hidden, however in 1933 the Italians luck would change, when another UFO would crash in northern Italy. They collected research on the foreign vehicles and even shared their findings with the Nazis. In 1939 the materials from the UFO that the Italians was handed over to the German, and in 1940 Cabinet RS/33 was dissolved.
